HP directory Server posixgroup issue

I have the latest release of HPDS installed. I have created a few posix groups and added members to the memberuid attribute. On a client with the latest ldap-ux integration, I can run grget and see the groups and the members of the group. However, if I am loggedin as the user and run a command like "id" or "groups", it does not show thier membership. They also have no access to directories or files that are rw for the group. Very frustrating. Any ideas?
