HP Distributed Print Service Not Starting
Hi members,
I once again post this thread on HP Distributed print service which when started generates the following error messages:
"pdclientd returned exit code 255.
could not start pdclientd
see files /var/opt/pd/pdclientd/*.log for more information.
started supervisor ab_s_01a".
this shuts down the spooler and
a close look of the logs at /var/opt/pd/pdclientd reveal as follows:
--startup.log -> "Cannot start basicdsd:DCE error: Connection request timed out (DCE/RPC)"
--startup.log.old -> same messages as in startup.log
--error.log -> "...The HPDPS is listening on port 6874
successfully started the HPDPS client daemon
The program pdclientd has been interrupted by signal 15 (SIGTERM)"
meanwhile, when an attempt was made to start spooler through SAM->printers and plotters->LP Spooler->printers and spoolers; it returns with the following messages:
"Attempted to determine if the fileset "LP-SPOOL" from the product "PrinterMgmt" exists on your system but the swlist command failed. stderr from swlist is :
ERROR: The expected depot or root does not exist at "/"
ERROR: there is currently no installed software on host "ab_s_01a" at location "/"...
when I ran swlist -d, it returns the following messages:
ERROR: the expected depot or root directory does not exist at "/var/spool/sw"
ERROR: there is currently no depot software on host "ab_s_01a" at location "/var/spool/sw".
I checked the "/var/spool/sw" all I could see are two contents; a diectory called catalog and a file swagent.log - nothing more!
what could have happened and why was it that HPDPS was running and that we could actually start and stop spooler through SAM without any error?
Please help us out while promising to assign points appropriately.
Thanks
Nas.
