HP EVA LUNs assigned to HP UX 11.23 is not showing up in ioscan

Hi,

I have 2 LUNs assigned from EVA 3000 to HP UX 11.23.

The HBAs on the server are
Model: A6795A
ModelDescription = Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter (PCI) - 2 Gig
DriverVersion = HP Fibre Channel Tachyon XL2 Driver B.11.23.03 $Date: 2005/01/20 15:09:02 $Revision: r11.23/1 PATCH_11.23 (PHSS_32101)

I installed the patches PHKL_33827 and PHSS_32101 for the addressing mode.

But still i can not see the disks assigned from EVA. The zoing is correctly done.

Can someone please help me to see what is wrong?

In ioscan i can see the Fiber channel adapter info
0/3/1/0 fc HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
0/4/1/0 fc HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter

Regards

>>> The zoing is correctly done.

Are you 100% sure of this?

Have you verified the OS Type definition in the host folder on the EVA?

When you created the host in the EVA, where you able to select the HBA port from the dropdown list? Or the WWN was entered manually?

The switchshow output shows correct connection of the HP-UX to the respective sanswitch ports?

There isn't enough information to troubleshoot the issue. Could you post the output of the following cmds which might will help in narrowing down the problem.

# ioscan -funC fcp
# ioscan -funC ext_bus

Hi Ambli
did you issue
insfe -eC disk on your server
provide me more information
what is your LUN you got when you created virtual disk from EVA, did you try sam, you can find unused disk on the sam list
make sure your system is connected with FC card.
if your LUN number is 20 you can issue
#insf -e
wait for few minute
#ioscan -funC disk | grep -i t2d4
if not try from sam grom disk menu, then you can see the disk.
and make sure this disk is properly presented on hosts.

Thanks to all. I removed and added the zone and reconnected the FC card. Its working now. May be there was something wrong in the connection.

Re: HP EVA LUNs assigned to HP UX 11.23 is not showing up in ioscan

Hi All,

I assigned points to all helped me to solve this. Actually Ivan's reply prompted me to check the zoning and the connections one more time. After that when i was sure the connections are correct, i verified the assignedment at the host by running the commands mentioned by others.

thanks to all once again. Appreciate your help.

I am closing the thread now.

Thanks
