HP J5000 resetting automatically !
My HP J5000 reboots automatically. There is no info. in Syslog. One point to note is , the machine is resetting even when the machine is in ISL prompt. I kept the machine idle for 5 minutes and the machine reseted automatically. Some times, before throwing any message to cosole, it resets for 2 to 3 times. I can see the LCD panel messages. But nothing strange except it resets intermittently. The whole machine goes for a reinitialization again. I can see the CDROM LED blinking whcih implies that the power to the CDROM drive is reset and the CDROM drive starts initializing again. After 3 to 4 resets, the machine boots up fully and again intermittently it resets. When the machine resets while fully booted, it just power off the entire box in a fraction of second. Everything starts reinitializing again. I got some HPMC chasis codes form ISL prompt, but that is of March 2000. After that there is no HPMC.
HPMC Chasis codes : 2cbf0 25008 27814 2cbfb
Any inputs,
Thanks in advance,
S.Karunanidhi.

Re: HP J5000 resetting automatically !
You have a hardware problem somewhere. Either CUP/memory or a bad block on a disk (usually system disk). In fact your chasis codes would seem to indicate a bad block on your system disk which means make an ignite backup of it, replace it and restore it.
Old chasis codes are still valuable. Give them to HP and they will decode and give you their opinion on what needs replacing.
