Re: hp jet direct printer drivers

Thanks I downloaded two files one with a .SD extension and another with a TAR extn.

When I try to swinstall the .SD file machine says it is looking for a tar archive.

When I unzip the .TAR file and use the tar.z file the machine complains of a lack of "depot" software!!!!!.

Now I am new to this system and I do not know what depot software mean

Any help is welcome.

thanks .

Re: hp jet direct printer drivers

Hi,

You have first register the software.

This is how to do

swreg -l depot /tmp/***.SD

***.SD should be the file you had downloaded.

Now go to SAM at the SOURCE this depot will be listed select and install.

goodluck

Re: hp jet direct printer drivers

I did the swreg command and seems to end w/o problems but when I go into sam he has trouble locating the depot software.

the sd file was in the /tmp directory.

Any ideas ?

Re: hp jet direct printer drivers

Venu,

When I go on to sam ther are options for software management and within that install software
list software etc. Within all of this I cannot see this software.

Every time I try to do anything with this file it says it is not a tar archive.

HP-UX 11.0 OPERATING SYSTEM ON AN HP9000 SERIES 700 OR 800

This version of HP's JetAdmin Utility for UNIX is
installed using the swinstall program that comes with
HP-UX 11.X.

To update to version D.06.21 of HP's JetAdmin Utility for
UNIX, on HP-UX 11.X workstations:
1) Log into the system as root.
2) Copy the software file HP11d621.SD to the /tmp
directory.
3) Type ps -ef | grep hpnpd. If hpnpd is running
find the process ID, then type "kill ".
4) If you need to re-install an existing JetAdmin
Utility, enter "/usr/sbin/swremove HPNP" at the console.
This will remove the previous instance of the
JetAdmin Utility.
5) Type /usr/sbin/swinstall.
6) In the "Specify Source" window, set the Source Depot
Path to the /tmp/file_name.
7) Set the Software View to be "Products" then click OK.
8) In the "Software Selection Window", highlight the
"HPNP -> D.06.21 Hewlett-Packard JetAdmin" line and
click on the right mouse button to mark this item
for installation.
9) Under the "Actions" menu, in the "Software Selection
Window" choose the "Install (analysis) ...".
10) After the analysis has completed successfully, hit
the "OK" button to start the installation.
11) After the installation is complete, check the log
file, which pops up in the "Install Window", for
errors and exit swinstall by clicking on File and then
Exit. The last entry in the log file should read
The Execution Phase Completed.
12) Verify that the software was installed properly:
a) Run JetAdmin by typing /opt/hpnp/bin/jetadmin
at the command line.
b) Select Diagnostics (option 2) on the JetAdmin for
UNIX main menu.
c) Select option 1 and make sure version D.06.21 is
displayed.
