HP Jetdirect 175x supported by HPUX 11.11

I'm wondering is the external printer driver Jetdirect 175x supported by HPUX11.11

hi,

from what i understand, jetdirect card is meant for the printer or a print server. based on its compatibility guide, windows operating system are supported with this jetdirect card:

unless u r looking at the server running HPUX 11i to be the print server, i do not think this server will function in that manner.

so r u asking whether the server running HPUX 11i can connect to this jetdirect card?

YES

Since the spec do not say it suport HP-UX, unlike other jetdirect said it support.

hi,

HPUX comes with a program called, "JetDirect Printer Installer for UNIX" which is a spooler administration, JetDirect configuration and diagnostics utility.

Do u have this program install in your server? with this, you may use lp command to print to that printer with JetDirect card install, after you have added that printer to your local spooler.

By the way, may i know which jetdirect printer series works with HPUX?

So far I knew most of the Jetdirect should support HPUX, but the Jetdirect 175x is a value version of Jetdirect.

So I do not decide to buy 175x or not!

yes. it seems Jetdirect 175x series do not support HPUX as the operating system, based on the following file:

but it does support TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and EtherTalk if u r configuring your server spooler to talk to the jetdirect card. i was puzzled by the compatibility of the network operating systems and protocol which some of this technical specification has.

since u r intending to buy a Jetdirect card, it may be better to talk to a sales person?
