HP JetDirect and B size printing
Greetings, I have an HP5000n connected directly to the network. I just installed the latest version of HP jetdirect printer installer. Not I need to configure a B size(11x17) queue. I have a few questions: 1. When I have Jetdirect installed do I need to SAM to configure printing? 2. Do I need to configure bootp or telnet to print to it? 3. Do I need to edit one of the model files to configure it for 11X17 and correct tray for paper?

Re: HP JetDirect and B size printing
Hi John,
Depending on which tray the paper you want to print on is in, you can use the -o tray1/tray2 option with the lp command. Looks at the man paages for the printer model for more info on the options available.
If he printer model is lj4x_net, try "man lj4x_net" for the options avaiable with this model of printer.
Hope this helps.

Re: HP JetDirect and B size printing
Hi John
1.Even if you start confiugring from SAM it will take you to jetadmin.
2.No just a normal network printer.
3.No this will work with -otray option if the driver is correct. man printer model , man lp for details.

Re: HP JetDirect and B size printing
Hi John,
you don't have to consfigure bootp or telnet to print on a network printer. If you are into the jetadmin configuration screen choose option "3" that is add a new printe. You don't have to do anything with the 1st two options with jetadmin when you invoke jetadmin from within SAM.
Hope this helps.
