Re: HP JETDIRECT PROBLEM
MIO errors are generally telling you there was a network interuption.
So either the port, the cable or the jetdirect card is having a problem maintaining connection to the network. ** OR ** Your Print Server is having a problem and is disrupting network service to the printer. When you get an MIO error, the way to resolve is to turn the device off and then on. This forces it to be re-acknowledged by the network and print server.
The only other thing may be a problem with the printers I/O buffering. Generally you tend to leave the printers default I/O buffer control the reserve memory. But sometimes you need to increase I/O Buffering to speed network printing. Look in your printers manual under something about Menu Configuration and review this and see if maybe something here won't help - once you've resolved it is not network disruption...but a matter of I/O buffer control.
Hope this helps,

Re: HP JETDIRECT PROBLEM
You did not specify how much memory was on the printer.
For a networked printer, we use 12 MB and do not have any problems. We had lots of problems before we added memory.
The config says 600K to IO buffering, 1800K for resource saving, 900K for PCL, and 900K for Postscript.
This gives available memory of 6.8 MB.
