HP Model Scripts for Xerox Phasers and Workcenters

I have read all the threads on here that I could find that reference Xerox printers and they all say to install Xerox drivers, however some Workcenters work with a generic Laserjet driver lj5x. Does anyone know of a generic Laserjet driver in HPPI that works with all Xerox printers? I have tried 5si, 4si, etc.

well...not with *all* of them, but as you noted the 5si driver works w/ the "bigger" machines (8 1/2 x 11 & 11 x 17 capable).

for most of smaller xeroxs, you might look at the "laserjet4" series driver (4/4+)

If the Xerox printers understand ASCII (that is, they are not limited to Postscript only), then you can use the net_ljx000 script or any PCL3, PCL4, PCL5 or even the "dumb" script.

However, if you are trying to use special options like selecting paper trays or duplex printing, you will be limited to Xerox printers that are PCL-compatible. HP does not provide non-HP printer scripts (for obvious reasons). You'll have to obtain the technical reference manuals for each of the Xerox printers, then create a custom printer script with the options that you need.
