HP/NT PAM LDAP
Hi has anyone attempted to configure an LDAP server running on HP for username/password authentication for UNIX and NT? My company is wanting to go down this path. We had enough foresight to keep usernames to 8 characters in the NT environment so that shouldn't be much of an issue. However, I don't have a clue where to begin w/ LDAP. I installed the NS Dir Server from the Distro CDs and have it up and running but don't know where to go from there? There isn't much documentation that I can find that really is for novices concerning LDAP.
At any rate and help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Eric

Re: HP/NT PAM LDAP
I haven't done it (yet), but I had a quick look on the web and came up with this site which seems OK:
http://www.imaginator.com/~simon/ldap/
I do have experience in LDAP if you get stuck there though....

Re: HP/NT PAM LDAP
Check out both of those sites earlier. What I don't get/understand is how the LDAP server knows the differences of when it is an NT box or an HP box requesting authentication. And to top that which set of groups get sent down to the client. I sorta followed the site showing the authentication w/ HP but I got some 300 NT servers that we want to authenticate centrally as well so our user base has the 1 login/passwd scenario.
And to add insult to injury they want at some time in the near future to add the AS/400 and VMS boxes into the picture.
ARRRGH!

Re: HP/NT PAM LDAP
Not sure, but I think you want to review LDAP-UX, which is available at www.software.hp.com. You can also download documentation at www.docs.hp.com/hpux/internet.
