Re: hp-pb 100 abse tx card
HP_BASET_SPEED[0]=100FD
That should do it for you.

Re: hp-pb 100 abse tx card
# lanadmin -x ppa 1
Current Speed = 100 Half-Duplex Auto-Negotiation-ON
to Auto-Negotiation-Off if I change to 100HD
in the file, or do I need to do anything else.

Re: hp-pb 100 abse tx card
The main question is, what speed do you want the machine to be set at? Do you want it at 100 Half duplex or 100 full duplex? Decide, then put the appropiate entry (100HD or 100FD) in the conf file.
Also be sure that your switch is set for the appropriate speed and not set to auto-negotiate as well.
Then the next time you reboot, the settings will be fixed and auto-neg will be off.

Re: hp-pb 100 abse tx card
This hp-pb card is hd only. Can I immediately change the card with lanadmin. When I use sam to change info on nw cards, the systems (HP) do not require reboots.

Re: hp-pb 100 abse tx card
NOTE: 100 half-duplex *MUST* be matched on the other end (hub or switch). If not, lanadmin will show a lot of errors in the statustice display and throughput will be less than 5Mbit/sec.

Re: hp-pb 100 abse tx card
When using "lanadmin -X" the option can be either a speed / duplex setting (100FD, 10HD, etc) OR auto_on. Specifying a speed / duplex setting will turn off auto-negiotiate.
The setting specified in /etc/rc.config.d/hpbasetconf is used as the lanadmin -X option when you boot. Here again, you can specify either a speed / duplex setting or auto_on.
I should point out there are several different config files in /etc/rc.config.d for NICs. The one(s) you use depends on what type NIC you have. You can determine that with ioscan -fnkC lan. See the attached doc for info on the config files.
You can run lanadmin -X "on the fly". At best, you will interrupt net traffic on the specified NIC while it re-establishes communication with the switch. At worst, it won't be able to re-establish communication.
An example: one of my servers was set with auto_on. So was the switch. They correctly negiotiated 100FD. So you'd think I could run lanadmin -X 100FD 1 (1 is the ppa#) without a problem. Wrong. The switch was still set to autoneg and could not figure out what the server was.
My point(s): be prepared to change the switch and server settings at the same time and realize the possibility exists to interrupt your network connection.
