HP Printer installer printing problem

We just upgraded the JetAdmin product to the HP Printer Installer on HP-UX 11.11. After the upgrade, the printer which has a Jetdirect device attaching to it, starts dropping data and prints blank pages after printing 100 pages or so. The printer model is HP-LJ IV. Wonder if anyone has experienced the same problem?
Thanks.

Re: HP Printer installer printing problem

Only the print job with more than 50 pages or so has problem. The small print job works just fine. We can get around the problem by increasing the printer buffer size. But since we have printers all over the world, I just try to see if the problem can be fixed without any hardware modications.

Does the print job itself has any blank pages?? Also does lp log says something about this??

Re: HP Printer installer printing problem

Hi,
I did te same operation a few weeks ago without any problem, but I didnt upgrade, I removed the previous release first..(swremove)
So I dont believe there is anything wrong with the latest version of Printer installer...

Good luck

Re: HP Printer installer printing problem

No blank page in the data and no errors found in the log either. The print job worked fine under the Jetadmin product. It only has problem when we upgraded to the Jetdirect Printer Installer.

Re: HP Printer installer printing problem

The JetDirect software is really simple...it runs the printjob through the printer script in the model.orig directory and the program hpnpf does all the work in communicating with the printer. Start by looking at the JetDirect card stats by using hpnpadmin (located in /opt/hpnpl/bin):

hpnpadmin -v 12.34.56.78

where 12.34.56.78 is the IP address of the printer. Look for problems in the stats. These stats may indicate overloaded network segments. There is nothing you can do in HP-UX to fix the networking problems--you'll have to solve the WAN issues. JetDirect (and the hpnpf program) were designed for LAN not WAN printing. The new IPC (Internet Printing Connection software appears to onyl available for Windows.
