Re: HP Serviceguard Cluster File System for RAC

Hi Melvyn,

Thank you for your reply. It just has the disk & volumes related planning sheet. How about capturing other details like cluster name etc

Also can you provide me General installation and Planning steps. I have done couple of MCSG installations before, But havnt done with CFS

Re: HP Serviceguard Cluster File System for RAC

HP has a course u8601 where you build

day 1
1. Build cluster
2. multinode packages
3. build cluster file systems
Day 2
4. install CRS
5. Configure CRS
6. Install Oracle
7. Build RAC instances
8. Build CRS Packages
Day 3
9. Install Continental Clusters
10. Build a continental Clusters configuration
11. do a continental clusters dress rehearsal.

Salam Kamal,

Please go through the below link(Sample Configurations with SGeRAC and
Oracle RAC 11gR1). It has detailed Planning considerations. Hope it will help you to configure the SGeRAC.

Re: HP Serviceguard Cluster File System for RAC

Just a remark : Why cluster file system ?
It costs you extra on licenses and support, while you can use Shared-LVM raw logical volumes and Oracle-ASM on top of that, both cost you nothing.

Re: HP Serviceguard Cluster File System for RAC

I belive you dont need even Shared Logical Volume also .

Oracle Cluster Ready Service + ASM can be used for this (It is free from Oracle 10g or above ) .

Re: HP Serviceguard Cluster File System for RAC

Hi

Actually customer currently has everything based on Symantec Storage foundation, for which the license is getting expired very soon and HP has recommended to use HP SMS to ease the migration.
