Re: HP supported SAN FileSystem

Hi Ganesh,

As long as it sees a valid LUN/disk, I don't see an reason why it's not supported.

Re: HP supported SAN FileSystem

If you mean a Filesystem that is portable and is Endian-less - then no not yet. Also, if you meant a Filesystem/VOlume Manager scheme that follows any SAN LUN size changes -- ie. grow your LUN/DISK on the SAN and your UNIX storage (mount point/volume) also increases -- NO not yet but it will come reportedly with HP-UX v 3.0. (Note that this feature is already supported on HP Tru64 Unix and OpenVMS BUT for EVA arrays only..)

IBM and Sun reportedly has a SAN filesystem out soon but I have not heard of its compatibility with HP's OS's.

Re: HP supported SAN FileSystem

Thanks for the reply, but I meant like IBM supporting SANFS,SUN supports qfs.
What SAN Filesystem is supported by HP(a shared file system that improves quality of service and utilization of SAN infrastructures)?

Thanks in Advance,
Regards,
Ganesh

Re: HP supported SAN FileSystem

Ganesh,

Sorry but at its current release -- at least on HP-UX, I amnot aware of any current support for SAN filesystems (including Windows upcoming WinFS).

Expect it to be available when HP-UX 11i version 3.0 comes out.

Re: HP supported SAN FileSystem

Although I may stand corrected.. non-HP technology - Veritas I think as a portable filesystem that works accross the environments - AIX, SunOS/Solaris and HP-UX.

Re: HP supported SAN FileSystem

Hi All,
I feel HP supported SAN infrastructure is yet not completed untill there will be a SAN FileSystem Support.

Re: HP supported SAN FileSystem

Hi Ganesh,

I remembered to have heard about HP making AdvFS as it's trademark for SAN and clusters. But I am not sure what the direction is now. As of now, you may be right.

Re: HP supported SAN FileSystem

Wait for more input on this thread. I've heard on this forum about such a FS for HP-UX (but maybe is my memory overloaded :)

Fred

Re: HP supported SAN FileSystem

AdvFS which will come out with HP-UX 11i v3 - if you could call it a SAN filesystem, will likely be supported on HP Arrays only (read. EVA).. I doubt if it will have support even for the XP (which is the Hitachi based arrays).
