HP SureStore Library Usage
Guys,
I have recently installed a HP SureStore Library onto my test 'K Class' server. The problem I have is that I'm not allowed to purchase any bespoke software to use this, ie Omniback, Legato etc.
I know there is the 'mc' command that can be used to mannipulate the drive/tape slots, but does anyone have a ready made script that I can use to set-up a backup script to use this tape library.
As always I'll respond accordingly, and thanks in advance.
Pete

Re: HP SureStore Library Usage
Pete -
Bummer on the software as this would allow you to fully utilize the hardware.
As Rita suggested, fbackup should be able to handle your script as each of the drives has a specific device name.
ioscan -fnC tape should get those device names for your fbackup script.
I would strongly urge your management to reconsider the backups products as there are a number on the market at different pricing structures.
Of Legato, Omniback, and Veritas, we chose Veritas(recently acquired by Symatec).
Very happy with Veritas, Netbackup Datacenter.
Regards,
dl
