HP-Unix B:11 - WRITE FAILED: I/O Error -> Can't open /dev/tty
Hi all!
Would you please find what is wrong with the DDS Tape Driver and the Device : The Backup can't run proprely. It is stopped after +/-4 minutes. The Cleaner Light is still blinking.. Every time, I'm cleaning it, I have the same Error Message.....
The scenario as following :

Step 1 : Rewind the magnetic tape
(mt ???t /dev/rmt/0m rew)
Step 2 : Backup all under /support environment
( find ./support/1 | cpio -ocvdmu

Status : Error Please Check Contents

?? Probable Cause / Recommended Action:
The tape drive needs cleaning:
1. If the operation has stopped, eject the tape and clean the drive.
2. If the operation has not stopped, wait for it to finish and then clean the drive.
Check the tape drive users manual for device specific cleaning instructions.
?? Automated Recovery: None
?? Event Generation Threshold: 1 occurrence
?? Fault Notifier Generation Threshold: 1 occurrence
Event Details: None

?? Code:0x24 Qualifier:0x00 Key:0x05 Status:0xXX
?? Device: ALL
?? Severity: SERIOUS
?? Event Summary: Software configuration error
?? Problem Description: The device was unsuccessful in processing the current request message because the message contained an invalid field in the command data block. The request was not processed.
?? Probable Cause / Recommended Action: The error most likely indicates that the device is not fully supported by the current driver. This may or may not cause problem in operation of the device.

If you keep cleaning the drive and still get the same problem then its either the tape or the drive itself. Try using a different (preferably new) tape. If you still have the same problem the drive is probably broken and you will need to call HP to get it replaced.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...
