HP Unix Remote Printing

I have set up a printer in HP Unix using Unix Jet Admin. I can print a test page from Jet Admin, but when I lp -d [prntrname] [file name] I get a "request ID -xxxx", but nothing comes out of the printer. I try an lpstat [printer name] and get "no entries"

anyone run into this in the past? I am stumped...
need a break? listen to some opera... it's a source...

Re: HP Unix Remote Printing

Make sure your print spooler is running and the printer is excepting jobs. The easiest way to do this is go to SAM and add the printer again.

Check the /var/spool/lp/log file for some more info.

Re: HP Unix Remote Printing

Try checking the printer status in jetadmin. It is option 5 off of the main menu.

Double check the IP assignment to the jetdirect card--make sure it agrees with what you configured for the print queue.

Re: HP Unix Remote Printing

Take a look aty the hpnpadmin command in /opt/hpnp/bin (and man page). It allows extensive command line testing of a printer's accessibility.
