HP Unix Version B.11.11 - hpnpadmin command
Have HP5100 series printers installed throughout Japan. They're having issues with printing. Using 'hpnpadmin' unix command to retrieve detail from printer on problem. Is there a better way of finding out what the printer problem is, (i.e.-paper jam, top tray full, memory error, network card error, etc.)?
'hpnpadmin' doesn't always seem to give the problem (could be indicating it's printing, but we're finding that the printer is jammed or out of paper).

Re: HP Unix Version B.11.11 - hpnpadmin command
Hi Mike
if this printer are network printer , it is much better to define them with jetdirect software , also there is a software call webjetadmin that can give you more info about problem with the printers .
you can try query the printer with snmp but all HP software that is doing it cost a lot of money ( like OVO that will query the printer with snmp )
here is the link for jetdirect product :

Eran Maor:
Question on the webjetadmin:
If the admin password is set, it does not display the status information. We're trying to get the password from them right now. Surprised the "status" was not being shown even with the admin password being set.
Other options ?
