Power failure not allowing to bring my system up.
Here are the mesgs.
When I select Boot from Pri Path
it says
Failed_to_Initialize
ENTRY_INIT_STATUS=-4
then displays 4 Lines of alpha-numeric strings
Trying Manufacturing Default devices
BOOT IO Dependent CODE (IODC) revision 4
FAILED
No Boot Device Found.
----------------------------
When I put my ignite Tape in
and select Boot from Alternate Boot Path:Y
Interact with IPL:Y
it says
Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) Revision 4
Hard Booted.
There is no Search in my ISL list to select the tape
tape is at 52.0.0.0
when I did ll /vmstand
says not found
How do I know root disk is crashed.
Do I have to replace the boot disk
How do i tell it to use the ignite tape to boot.
(Note: There was no mirrored disk).
Solved! Go to Solution.

SolutionI take it that your boot drive was not mirrored?
It sure sounds like your boot drive has crashed.
As for booting from the tape, if you stop the boot up and enter the following, the server should boot off of your tape:
bo 52.0.0.0
Interact with IPL (Y/N)? N
Hope this helps!

Re: HP-UX 10.20 Crashed - Not coming UP
SEA to search for boot devices, choose the 'sequential' listing, listed something like 'P2'
then BP P2
interact with IPL> N

Re: HP-UX 10.20 Crashed - Not coming UP
This is bad syntax. Try this instead:
ISL> hpux -ll
This will list everything in /stand.
#########################################
You may have a corrupt bootlif. I'll give you a procedure to test for this but you'll need a recovery cd / install cd to fix it.
ISL> hpux -lm -is
If you can come up under this command then see attached.

...fails
but,
>ISL hpux -lm -is

hpux ll /vmstand
its,
ISL>hpus -ll
There is no /vmstand. There's no such thing.
