HP-UX 10.20 supported hardware
I know that you can't run 10.20 on systems using the PA RISC 8700 & 8800 processors. Is this because the object code won't run or because HP has not tried it and won't support it.

Re: HP-UX 10.20 supported hardware
This may be a dumb question, but why is the app holding you back to 10.20? You can develop and compile 32-bit apps on 64-bit HP-UX quite easily.

Re: HP-UX 10.20 supported hardware
As with everything on support life issues, you are welcome to try anything at your own risk, but I'd bet some hardware-specific drivers needed for the latest workstations are no available and would prevent booting under some circmstances.

Here's the matrix for workstations:

But you certainly can use your 10.20 applications on 11.00 for your J[56-60]00s.

Re: HP-UX 10.20 supported hardware
Patrick,
The reason we're stuck on 10.20 is that the target H/W our customer is using (and will be using for some time) is a 165Mhz 744 and some of the software we need to integrate with and must be compatible with won't run under 11.0. We want to be able to run the compiled code on the same system we compile it on so the H/W has to support 10.20.
Olivier,
The matrix was very helpful. It doesn't include PA-8700 or PA-8800 systems. I guess that's because 10.20 won't run on them. A complete matrix should include all products currently available from HP.
I'm going to recommend buying some J6700s or J6750s. We'll be transitioning to HP-UX 11.x in the near future. I was hoping to get workstations that supported current and future development, compiling and run-time debugging.
Thanks again,
Mike D'.
