HP-UX 10.20 upgrade to 11.0

During my installation I have received the question to insert the HP-UX 11.0 Core OS Options CD, but I do not have that CD. Where could I found an image to download this Options ?

If you have a software support contact you should be able to order it in SUM (Software Update Manager) in ITRC. If any problems call your local cotracts admin at HP.

Re: HP-UX 10.20 upgrade to 11.0

Are you sure you really want to do an upgrade rather than a cold install? We upgraded 4 systems from 10.20/10.10 to 11.0. Each upgrade took about 26 hours, and each upgrade was not successful and had to be backed out at least once.

The big gotcha for us was the 11.0 install/upgrade of mirroring put a new version of LVM on the system. This new version was missing key patches. Without these patches our systems were rendered unbootable. I strongly recommend you re-install the LVM patches after installing the mirroring software (if you have mirroring).

I suspect you're upgrading a workstation & are using a CD set delivered with a server. I suspect this because I was in the same boat a while back - although it was an install. The Core OS CD is where the graphics card drivers live & since most - if not all servers - are delivered w/o such cards HP doesn't include that CD in the server set.
I solved the problem by asking my friendly CE to burn me a copy & drop it by, which they did happily. Gotta love those guys & gals.
My W/S "sat" for three days waiting for this CD w/o complaining.

Moral I - Pays to have the proper CD set before installing/upgrading.
Moral II - The CEs are go-to people & almost always will go out of their way to help.

Rgds,
Jeff
