Re: Hp-ux 11.0 installation
Hi:
You are proceeding correctly. Start with the Core OS CDROM as you did. Follow this with you Applications (from the Applications CDROMS). Then install all of the Diagnostic software (EMS, STM and Predictive Support) from the current SupportPlus CD. Lastly, install the most recent General Release Patch bundle, again from the SupportPlus CD.
Remember when installing patches on 11.x to set the 'patch_match_target' option true. In the 'swinstall' GUI click Actions -> Manage Patch Selection -> Autoselect Patch for Target. This selection sets the 'patch_match_target' option. The option is false, by default, so change it to true.
When installing patches from a depot (like the GR bundle) 'patch_match_target' can be used to select patches that correspond to products you have installed on the target system. This allows the installation of the proper patches from a patch bundle.

Re: Hp-ux 11.0 installation
Hi Nitin,
you need Core OS 11.00 November '99 or December 2000.
Application CD's from Sep '00 or Dec '00 or Mar '01. There is no seperate Cds for S700 and S800.
Then HP-UX 11.00 Support Plus CD from Jun, Sep or Dec '00 or Mar '01 and the latest one is Jun 2001. This CD has latest Patches.
Sequence: Install OS. Then either Apps or Support Plus.
1. Install OS.
Stop boot sequence. Search for boot devices. Boot from CD. Use advance options. Set root password. Set system name. Set IP address. Do no touch anything except file systems. Do not set Network, NIS or DNS. Do not select to install any package or software at this moment or else you have a higher chances to face problem.
2. Install APPs.
use codeword and install necessary applications.
3. Install Support Plus (patches)
mount cdrom
If you want to enable new hardware install XSWHWCR1100. IF you want third party patches install QPK1100. If you want diagnostic tools install onlineDiag. Install XSWGR1100 to bring OS to current patch level.
Must install
swinstall -s /cdrom/XSWGR1100 (this will reboot the system)
NOTE: Assigning only 10 answer a point out of 78. Are you not solving your problems?

Re: Hp-ux 11.0 installation
Hi,
There are two items I would like to suggest
that you do after what James and Sachin have
mentioned. The first would be to secure your
system. This will make your system easier to
manage.
There is an excellent recommendation from
Bill Hassell in the following post.
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,1150,0x4499e7e60861d511abcd0090277a778c,00.html
Set 'umask' in /etc/profile to '022'
After securing your system I would do a
make recovery bootable tape of your system.
make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn
