hp-ux 11.00 os differences with year 1999 & 2002

hello,

i've got a os core cd for hp-ux 11.00 year 1999 and 2002. Installed it on a rp2740.
The core os year 1999 cannot go thru but the one with the year 2002 passed installation.
Then i've tried to install the application(Datastage for hp-ux 11.00) with the year 1999 and it failed. Is it because of the compatability between the year 1999 & 2002?

It is more likely to do with the firmware revision of the machine that is stopping the install or even Y2K compatibility.

In reality why would you want to install a version 5 years old anyway. You'd still have to patch it.

The issue has to do with drivers and systems supported for each media. The rp2470 did not exist in 1999 (at least I don't think so), so that media doesn't now how to deal with things specific to that machine. Whereas the 2002 media has the drivers and the necessary kernel bits to work with the rp2470.

It's all a matter of timing as to when the was the hardware released. Each system has basic requirements.

You do mean rp2470 don't you?
"rp2430 & rp2470 Minimum HP-UX Revision:
HP-UX revision 11.0 & 11.i HWE0112"

This means you can use HWE December 01 or greater to install this machine.
