hp-ux 11.00 swinstall failure in MC Service Guard during Analysis Phase

ello,

I am having a problem installing the MC Service Guard package after cold installing HP-UX. I was going to wait to patch until after the MC Service Guard install. Swinstall takes my codeword and such no problem, but fails during the analysis phase. The package name is B3935BA, Revision A.11.09. The release Description on the codesheet reads "HP-UX Applic. Release S800 11.00/MAR2000. It seems like there are files missing. Is the CD I am using just to update? I have attached the swagent.log as I am guessing it would be useful.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

It is not a problem with your codeword as you are able to see the software and select it. Is this the application CD - 4?.

This Checkinstall file should exist and verify it manually.

Otherwise use a different CD.

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try

Re: hp-ux 11.00 swinstall failure in MC Service Guard during Analysis Phase

Thanks for the quick reply Sri, I had another software update cd that actually had two MC Service Guard packages on it. Same deal though, I tried marking both and installing, then as singletons, neither worked. I attached the entire log, but I don't think it's going to help much. BTW, it might be helpful to know that this is A.11.9 if that helps.

Thanks

Here is the swagent log, didn't make the cut last time. Pilot error ;)

Hi Everett,

How are you mounting the CD?. Do not mount it any addtional options. Just mount it with the following command

#mount /dev/dsk/c?t?d? /cdrom

Then try.

Re: hp-ux 11.00 swinstall failure in MC Service Guard during Analysis Phase

Hi Everett,

There was a problem with one particular version of SG. As per your post you are trying to install 11.09 version, but still i'm attaching the link for your info,

Hope this helps.

Re: hp-ux 11.00 swinstall failure in MC Service Guard during Analysis Phase

I had just found that again. I saw it this morning, but didn't read it close enough to see that it was really MY problem. Thanks a bunch. I will try to download and install the Object stuff and go for it.

Re: hp-ux 11.00 swinstall failure in MC Service Guard during Analysis Phase

Hi Everett,

I think the latest version of SG is 11.14. This add a few advanced features to the SG. It is also better to install the latest version of SG rather than an older version. I have 11.13 installed on my system and the installation of the same did not give any problem during the installation phase. I checked the hp software site and i wasn't able to locate the cluster object manager.

So i would suggest, if you have a software contract with hp, you can ask for the latest set of application CD's. The newest set has 6 cd's in the application cd set for 11.0. I got the last one for Dec 2001.

you can order a new set of OS application cd using this thread,

http://us-support.external.hp.com/swd/bin/doc.pl/sid=5f963c711a5a7bbcf9/screen=SWUpdates

They will send you fresh codewords with the new set of cd's if you have a software contract with hp.

Hope this helps.

Re: hp-ux 11.00 swinstall failure in MC Service Guard during Analysis Phase

Thanks Sri,
I don't have the time to wait that long though. If I install the COM from the set that I have, then install Service Guard, then patch, I should be OK, no?
