I have a problem performig a cold install with HP-UX 11.11. I need a clean installation of this version. This version also was pre-installed on this machine.
After I boot (and swith Fast Boot=ON, SEARCH and BOOT P0 for CD-Rom) it starts to load the INSTALL. After a while it displays memory configuration and then it hangs:
Configuration Menu: Enter command > search
Searching for potential boot device(s)
This may take several minutes.
To discontinue search, press any key (termination may not be immediate).

Re: HP-UX 11.11 cold install hangs on rp3410
What is the date on your media for 11.11?
How long have you waited?
Have you tried to interact with IPL (dictate where you want the root disk to be).

Try booting off of P1.
That may be the cd drive, not P0

Try turning off FASTBOOT and rebooting. I have seen memory errors cause hangs like this.

Solutiondo you have a 11i version other than Dec 2004 to try.
Take a look at this thread below from ITRC.
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000077246045
The ITRC doc id is WO050125_CW01
Hope this helps.

Re: HP-UX 11.11 cold install hangs on rp3410
Unfortunately I do not have newer medias,
but I have ordered them...
The ITRC doc id is WO050125_CW01 looks
very appropriate, because I have this
graphics adapter installed in my rp3410.
Is there a chance to burn a patched install
media containing PHKL_30306?

Re: HP-UX 11.11 cold install hangs on rp3410
I do not think it is possible to burn a media with the patch. You may have to wait for the new media to arrive. If you have installation CD's in place of DVD, you can try with that. It may help.
Hope this helps.

Re: HP-UX 11.11 cold install hangs on rp3410
I still have the same firmware as before!
I still turn fastboot on!
... And it works! WINSTALL does not hang anymore...
Thanks to all!!!
