Re: HP-UX 11 and 11i differences
11i is newer, so it will be supported longer.
It has been around long enough now that most big issues are patches. It is also compatible with newer hardware, has performance improvements, bug fixes, some new applications such as IDS come with it. The only reason I can think of not to use 11i over 11.0 is if some application you are using is not working or supported in 11i.

Re: HP-UX 11 and 11i differences
Take a look at
http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/operating/hpux11i/index.html
http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/operating/hpux11i/infolibrary/index.html
From installation point of view, since you install an OE(operating environment) installation is much easier, since installing the OE includes the other applications.
Has an advantage of some dynamic kernel parameter changes, so easier to change some of the kernel parameters without having to reboot.

In terms of opensource products, 11i comes with lot of open source products.
In terms of security, it comes default with IDS.
Since it is newer, it has lot of performance improvements /bug fixes over 11.0
Also take a look at

Re: HP-UX 11 and 11i differences
Better is a subjective term here. 11i being
the newer version from the HP stable, has
some additional features over 11.0. It is
especially useful , if you are hosting a
web-related application.
<< I run Oracle Applications, it is certified on both. Which OS is better? >>
I don't think it makes much difference, since both are 64-bit O/s. But, since
you have the choice, you can go for 11i, since
it is newer and has also stabilised .
