HP-UX 11 March 2002 installation problem

I am trying to install HP-UX 11 from March 2002 CD for technical computing congiguration.I put in the CDs as needed, first the Install CD,then Core OS CD for graphics software & then the Support plsu CD.There is a
separate CD from IDEAS(Ideas 9.0) to install for hp-ux 11.00,that is also installed and i am getting the following error.
ERROR
When ideas command is typed from the shell
#/bin/ideas
The screen shows text for authentication and stops at

When i try to install Ideas v 9.0, it looks for the prerequisites & gives the above error.
I also checked & found the above library files are there in the Core OS CD but it does not get installed. If i continue installing Ideas & ignore the above message, it gives me the OpenGL error as mentioned.I manually copied the files from the CD but it does not help. How can i make sure the files(libraries) are installed so that the above error does not come.

Can someone help please.

When you do the install of the core files, do you take the defaults or are you customizing it? It's been a while since I looked at the install screen, but you should be able to manually select how much you want to install and tell it to put in the libraries.

Re: HP-UX 11 March 2002 installation problem

I am just taking the default.
Infact when i select the the Techical computing configuration to be done, it automatically asks for the Core OS CD(which has the graphics software products-B6268AA bundle)& installs on its own & then the support plus CD,there is no customization.

I cant select which files to install as i am selecting the Technical Computing Configuration & it automatically asks for the relevant CD & installs the files on its own.

Re: HP-UX 11 March 2002 installation problem

This CD came from HP? I can't find anything for it on-line. I was thinking that maybe there was a newer version or something, and you had a buggy one. Something to check.

I did find a site with patches on it. Maybe check this out and make sure that you are patched up before you install this.

http://isvpatch.external.hp.com/eds-plm-solutions/patches/09_patches.html

I did a check of my system, and the libX11.sl file was installed (I used the hp-ux 11.0 June 2001). it is in /usr/lib/X11R4/libX11.sl You might want to run a find command and see; they might be there and the install program is looking in the wrong place.

Hope something here helps.

Re: HP-UX 11 March 2002 installation problem

Mark,

I was searching for help & found your message.

I'm installing I-DEAS10 & I get the same report when checking the installation: Can't find:
libX11.sl
libXext.sl
libXi.sl
libXt.sl
The check routine identifies the system has X11 R6, which is req'd. If I look in the /usr/lib/X11R6 directory these files don't exist. However they are in the /usr/lib/X11R4 directory.

Can I copy them? Or what do I do next?

thanks
