Re: HP-UX 11.x - B2000 - Software Depot - swinstall - "Could not contact host"
If you dont use DNS, add the host entry in /etc/hosts file and configure /etc/nsswitch.conf file to use hosts

Re: HP-UX 11.x - B2000 - Software Depot - swinstall - "Could not contact host"
I can ping my hostname successfully (resolve name to IP).
Software that I would like to install is in .depot format.

Re: HP-UX 11.x - B2000 - Software Depot - swinstall - "Could not contact host"
Does the 'hostname' command return the correct hostname of your system? Does 'nslookup
I'm sure it sounds like these are picky questions, but swinstall is very particular about everything resolving correctly.

Re: HP-UX 11.x - B2000 - Software Depot - swinstall - "Could not contact host"
This issue has been discussed couple of times. On 11.0, SD-UX commands are linked to libc.1 whereas most of the other binaries are linked to libc.2
From the man page of nsswitch.conf, the default name resolution behaviour of libc.1 binaries would be.
hosts: dns [NOTFOUND=return TRYAGAIN=return] files
Do you have DNS at all ?
If yes
# vi /etc/nsswitch.conf
hosts: dns [SUCCESS=return NOTFOUND=continue UNAVAIL=continue
TRYAGAIN=continue] files
#
If you dont have DNS
# vi /etc/nsswitch.conf
hosts: files
#
Try this and you might need to restart swagentd. Now I bet it should start working :-)
