HP-UX 11i and VPN

I have an HP-UX system that I wish to use to connect to a VPN. I have used VPN clients from CISCO and MCI to connect my Windows system to this VPN but am unable to find a "simple" solution to connect HP-UX to the a VPN. Just taking a quick look around, I see that IPSec is central to what I want to do, but the docs for IPSec/9000 looks to be way more than I want to get into. I am looking for something I can give a target IP address, my account info and connect. (The CISCO site has clients for Windows, Solaris and Linux). Anyone have any ideas and/or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hello George,
You may want to look to Nortel for your VPN client solution.

Re: HP-UX 11i and VPN

The way our VPN works here, I VPN into some VPN server, which I guess is a W2K machine, and then I just telnet to UNIX.

The UNIX servers don't do VPN here.

Re: HP-UX 11i and VPN

We also have a Cisco VPN solution. I VPN to our internal network through that, then I SSH into the HP-UX servers.
We do not use a direct VPN connection to the HP-UX servers.

Re: HP-UX 11i and VPN

Thanks all for you responses.

I have requested a trial Nortel VPN client, and hope that it will be whatn I need.

From some responses, it appears I may not have been totally clear. I want to connect *from* an HP-UX system via VPN to other HP-UX systems. I have no trouble using the VPN from a Windows system and then to ssh to my HP-UX systems. I do not wish to create a VPN directly to my HP systems - I am quite happy to leave that to others.
