HP UX 11i: SAM Areas

I have a G-Class server running HPUX 11i. When I telnet into the server and execute SAM, I noticed that the selection 'Users and Groups' (normally found in HPUX 10.20/11.0) isn't available? Is this feature embedded in another selection or is this feature actived differently?

Re: HP UX 11i: SAM Areas

Hi,

It should say "Accounts for Users and Groups" and once you select it, it should show up Users and Groups.

If you are not seeing it, then you may need to re-install SAM from the OS CD.

It is marked as "Accounts for Users and Groups"

Are you using a "restricted SAM" (customised) ?

Re: HP UX 11i: SAM Areas

It would appear you are using restricted sam based on user id. It would seem you are not logging on as root user or somehow restrictions have been placed on the root account.

useradd userdel and passwd do provide almost all of the menu based SAM functionality.

Re: HP UX 11i: SAM Areas

Hi,
Hp-UX 11i is not supported on G-Class Server . Please see the below link for the supported servers.

Re: HP UX 11i: SAM Areas

While you are correct, Suki, that 11i is not OFFICIALLY supported on a G box, it does in fact work. I too have installed it on a G box. While it did not run fast, it did run.

I tend to agree with the others that the problem is that SAM is either not fully installed or is running in restricted mode.
