HP-UX 11i v2 installation issue (plz help)

Hello All,

im facing the following problem:

lately, we purchased  SCSI disks of 146 GB to replace old disks of 73 GB hosting the OS (11i v2) on an HP9000 L3000 server. After swapping the disks with the new ones, we re-installed the OS from the beginning on the new disk. However, we removed the new disks and successfully rebooted once again from old disks but when trying to reboot the next time from the new disk (of 146 GB) having the OS, it failed to boot with an error as "System Alert Level 12   Software Failure ..."

Any ideas? and what is causing this issue? as it should boot normally.

Thanks in advance

A L3000 (also known as rp5470) has four slots for internal disks. Are you sure you put the new disks to exactly the same slots as they were at the OS installation time?

The complete error message would be quite helpful, as would whatever is on the screen before the error.  Context with errors is always good!

Are you sure you placed the disks back in the same slots they were in before?  If not, that could be part of the problem.  The boot loader, and LVM, may expect the disks to be in different slots than they are currently.

many thanks for all of you, it seems that it was a patch-related issue.
