Any one know if "HP-UX 11i v3 Update 4" equal to "HP-UX 11i v3 March 2009 Release"?

Shalom Erez,

HP seems to be changing the way they refer to the major releases. The Term 11i v3 Update 4 seems to be more like the way Red Hat refers to its releases.

About every six months, HP comes out with a bi-annual update. This includes a new set of Applications such as Glance etc, A new Core OS, and a QPK patch set.

If you have a Update 3 system, Which is September of 2008, applying the QPK is all you need to be at update 4. Re-installation is not needed.

The old timers like me use the date system, March 2009. I guess we'll have to adjust.

No SEP, we keep having this conversation - for 11.23 and 11.31, applying a QPK doesn *not* get you to the update level the QPK came with. You need to use update-ux from the install & update DVDs to get to the new level.

Torsten actually provided an empirical comparison of an 'update-ux' versus the application of standard patch bundles. The results underscore (of course) Duncan's statements. SEP, you are dead wrong.

Never said the applications did not require update.

We are talking about the Core OS and the kernels and patching.

After applying thye patch bundle only:

After running update-ux:

HPUX11i-OE-MC B.11.31.0803 HP-UX Mission Critical Operating Environment
