hp ux and solarwinds... need MIB??

Hello, I am trying to get solarwinds to monitor my hp9000 rp5405 server running hpux 11.11 ... I downloaded net snmp 5.0.9 and installed it like I was told by solarwinds.. I heard about these MIBs? what are they? and do I need a special one for solarwinds??

I assume solarwinds in an network management tool.

Whether you need a MIB (Management Information Block) file or not depends on the software and the device. Most devices implement a SNMP standard system MIB and a perhaps a common SNMP MIB for that device class, and often that's you need. Some devices have additional MIBS they support that are product (and/or company specific) although your application may have those already included.

The Net SNMP utils you mention have many MIB files included.

This forum is for the Virtual Library Systems (VLS) storage products, but your posting appears to be for an HP-UX server. You may want to post under the appropriate HP-UX system/OS forum.
