Hello,
We just got an EVA4400 and i came across this document: http://www.docs.hp.com/en/7408/HPUXSANBootWP_final_v2_update.pdf
And it really got me excited... Is it as easy as the document states..? It basically says that just present the LUN and then just perform the OS install...
But what if i want to present the LUN and then use the ignite-ux tape to copy the system to the SAN... Would that work..>?
I am just trying to save time by not having to install/configure the whole OS again...
Can i just do a dd or something like that...?
Thanks

Solution
Both are basically the same procedure.
Once the install kernel is loaded, the system is able to search the SAN and it will find the "disk" in the SAN.
Just make sure to present the vdisk to the correct WWN.
Hint:
1) Do the zoning on your switches
2) Do an interactive install and stop at the user interface.
3) because the installer has already made a scan, the EVA can see the WWN's now - present the vdisks
4) re-do the h/w scan from the installer window and install hp-ux
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP-UX + hp3410 + Boot from SAN
You sure can.. After you have met any requirements that the document outlines.
Simply boot the Ignite tape, select advanced method. Pick the disk you wish to install to..
Fill in the other blanks if needed and happy days.....
:)
