HP UX install

I have posted this message before...but could not get any help..Here I go again..this time I have attached screen shots...

I am trying to install HPUx 11.0 on my workstatio(It crashed on me). Its a 712/60 model. I do the following steps:
1. Power it on, press esc to interrupt
2. sea to look for boot device
3. bo scsi.4.0
4. It comes back to the BOOT_ADMIN prompt
5. I then try bo scsi.4.0 isl

I do not get the install menu. I was thinking that either the media or the CDROM drive had problems. Replaced both of them one after the other, tried all combinations of the drive and media...but no use..The medias used was Nov 1999 and March 2002

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP?? :((
I need to get this thing working at the earliest.

Re: HP UX install

Try this, just to see what happens ..
BOOT_ADMIN> path alt scsi.4.0
BOOT_ADMIN> bo alt
Have you also try replacing the SE SCSI cable?

Re: HP UX install

I forgot to mention...I have tried setting the boot path to alt..then bo alt...any kind of combinations one could possibly think of...also changed the SCSI cable..

Re: HP UX install

Sorry, the screen shots are a bit hard to read. Does the 'sea' (search) display two CDROMS, one at SCSI ID 4, the other at SCSI ID 5?

It appears to say
"HP CDROM...", and
"Toshiba CDROM "

These units typically had one internal hard drive, and external drives (CDROM, DAT, HDD) as needed. What is your configuration, and what are the SCSI IDs of each device?

If you remove all external devices and terminate the SE SCSI bus at the chassis, can you see the internal HDD with "sea" at the Boot Admin prompt?

Here are some docs on this old beast that may help you.

http://h200004.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpv37629/lpv37629.pdf

Both are from:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Product.jsp?prodTypeId=43563

Normal setup is:
Internal HDD = SCSI ID 6
External CD = SCSI ID 2
External DAT = SCSI ID 3
External HDD = SCSI ID 5

Hope something here is of use to you.

Re: HP UX install

if you try sea ipl, you can see all media that can boot and you can determine if you cd or cdrom have some problem
