HP-UX installation
I have a problem here. I'm going to install an A class server with HP-UX 10.20. But the problem is the A class server does not come with any tape drive nor the CDrom. I understand that i could install the hp-ux by using Ignite-UX via lan but I do not know how to go about it. could you please direct me on how to create the Ignite-UX and install the A class server via lan? TQVM in advance.

Re: HP-UX installation
ignite server is for network OS/software installation, just for installing the one os, creating ignite server is really waste. if u still desired, Ignite server s/w comes free of cost with HP application CD's. using this u need to make a HP machine as ignite server.and the os/software can be loaded in the server. then you can download the os/software from ignite server to any machine via network.
note: u need to have a seperate m/c to create ignite server.
later..

Re: HP-UX installation
interupt the boot (10 seconds)
BCH Main Menu> BO LAN
You should have the installation appear.
I'm not 100% sure if the networked swcopy of the installation CD works, I can remember vaguely that it does.. but ignite should be fine too.
Later,
Bill

Re: HP-UX installation
Is it a A180 server? because i don't believe you can install 10.20 on a A400 or A500.

Re: HP-UX installation
If you have an A400 or A5XX then you will not be able to install 10.20 as those machines only support a 64-bit OS (11.0 or 11i).
See this link for more details: http://devresource.hp.com/STK/serversupport.html
I am not sure that an IUX server would be the best bet here. I would be tempted, if you have a support contract on this machine, to call HP and get them to come out with an external CD-ROM drive for you to use. Or if you have an external CD somewhere, preferable with an HP logo on it, you could attach it and use it.
