HP-UX is not detecting the DAT drive

hi all
i have installed a new dat drive on HP-UX
9000 series server .but dat drive is not
detecting .

plz help me

Make sure the scsi address on the tape drive is correct.

insf -e or insf -C

ioscan -fnC tape

sam
kernel
drivers
add stape

compile the kernel and boot.

You are done.

1) Check for SCSI ID conflict
3) Check for proper SCSI termination
2) Check for the stape driver in the kernel.

You can use ioscan to attach specific driver to your installed device.

ioscan -M driver -H

I believe for DLT it should be stape.

1)May b u need proper terminator! I have seen this several times before.
2)Another Dumb thing I did once was used the same target number for the tape drive as another external device. You could check that too.

Hi,
The stape driver is not by default in the kernel. If this is the first tape device connected you have to add this driver to the kernel.

For that you can just do lsdev | grep stape
If not present, you will have to install this driver.

1.Check using 'search' PDC command
2.if it detects there check using ioscan -fnC tape
3.use insf -e to create the special file.
