HP-UX languages/locale (Chinese)

I'm trying to locate for install the
"Chinese National Standard GB 18030-2000: Information Technology - Chinese Ideograms Coded Character Set for Information Exchange"
found referenced at http://docs.hp.com/hpux/pdf/5990-3000.pdf .

I see that it is referenced in other places as available for HP-UX 11i version 1.6 and all the references to that I've found mention Itanium.
My mission is to install this (aka Zh_CN.GB18030) and the locale Zh_CN.GBK on a
RP2470 with June2002 11i currently installed.
I can redo any install if needed, but my questions are:

Is 11i version 1.6 available for PA-RISC ?
If so, how can I get a copy/what do I ask for?
Is there an "enhancement" for my existing version?

Thanks so much,
Steven

Hi Steven,

I can't help with the locale issue, but I have read that 11i v1.6 is just for the Itanium.

Re: HP-UX languages/locale (Chinese)

Yes, 1.6 is for Itanium only, but there are many 11i patches that should be of interest to you.

PHCO_26453 seems likely to be of interest:
( SR:8606233763 CR:JAGae02987 )
Lack of implementation for Simplified Chinese GB18030
(zh_CN.gb18030), Hong Kong HKSCS (zh_HK.hkbig5), and
Euro support in Greek UTF-8 (el_GR.utf8) locales.

A very quickly generated and possibly not complete list of 11.11 patches referencing gb18030 support is:

PHSS_27428
PHSS_27425
PHCO_27434
PHSS_27235
PHCO_26907
PHSS_26975
PHCO_27057
PHSS_26494
PHSS_26493
PHSS_25784
PHSS_25782
PHCO_26453
PHCO_26454
PHCO_26456
PHSS_25783
PHSS_26498
PHNE_25083

I have not personally tested this combination of patches, but know that HP put a lot of effort into gb18030 support for 11.11.

BINGO!!!!!
Thanks soooo much Doug, I was looking for that answer for a long time on my own. SOme of the list you provided had dependencies and one had a warning about using with OmniBack or tar command (for future reference) but with the dependant patches installed, the approaching weekend is looking good!
Thanks again!
