Re: HP UX machine not able to telnet

Do you have any subnets disallowed in your /var/adm/inetd.sec file.

Have a look at the man page for 'inetd.sec'

Re: HP UX machine not able to telnet

Hi,

Or do you have any installed tcpwrappers or host-based firewalls (e.g. ipfilter/9000) that is restricting accesses alike /var/adm/inetd.sec?

Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: HP UX machine not able to telnet

just have alook in syslog on the HP system , telnetd logs it's messages in there , it is indeed true that there might be something like inetd.sec at work , but also have a look at the syslog it might just tell you why the HP refused the PC

Re: HP UX machine not able to telnet

hi,

is it pinging from the windows host, if so reset the lan card and try telnet. if this is the case it is problem with patches/switch or duplex.

use lanadmin command to reset the card.

if it is not pinging then check default gateways for the both hp and windows machines.
