HP-UX Mail Use

I trying to test mi hp ux system email but i not sure that I doing ok i tiping:
mail xxxx@xxx.com
subject TEST
Test email

Perhaps first configure sendmail, the default MTA, Mail Tranport Agent on HP-UX.

In a corporate environment you need to configure sendmail.cf to relay mail to a mail relay server.

DShostname_of_mail_relay_server

or

DS
[192.168.0.10]
# IP address of the mail relay server.

The second configuration does not require DNS to work to get mail moving.

/sbin/init.d/sendmail start
#starts the sendmail daemon
Starting this daemon is not strictly necessary.

Diagnosis:
tail -f /var/adm/syslog/mail.log

See whats happening with the mail

HI:

Now type CTL_D to single an eof (end-of-file).

You can also do:

# mailx -s "TEST" xxx@yyy.com "Test Email"

Hi,

Just following the below simple steps is not enough for the mail to reach receipient.

You should have relay server to send out the mail.

#mailx username@abc.com
Subject:Test mail
This is a test mail
.
EOT
