HP-UX Mail

Hi Guys,

First of all Happy New Year.

I have a hp-ux mail server and planning to restore a mail backup of older mails.

I don't know how to start. Can any body give me an idea?

What os is the mail server?
How was the backup made?

Good questions from Cheryl. Would also like to know if we are talking sendmail? If so are you restoring /var/mail/* ?

If you are talking about the built-in sendmail/mailx/elm tools, you simply restore the /var/mail directory. You might want to restrict the restoration to not overlay newer mail files. HP-UX has a very simple mail structure, just plain text files in /var/mail. However, if you have added some other tool for email, you'll need to describe what is running on HP-UX for email support.
