HP-UX patch for 2GB HBA (Urgent!)

What kind of HP-UX patch I need to install on HP-UX 11i v1 (11.11) in order to support 2GB HBA ( PCI 2GB Fibre Channel Adapter, A6795A )?
I have HWEnable11i(Hardware Enablement Patches for HP-UX 11i v1, B.11.11.0306.4, June 2003
, 2004) installed on the server, is that good enough ? or I need to apply the later one, like Dec 2003 or June 2004 ?
Is there any way I can get more detail about this info. ?

Hi,

Look for the patch PHSS_28509. That's the latest fiber channel patch. Try upgrading the driver to June 2004 if you can, before applying the patch.

I have been having 6795s since long time and it didn't create any problems to me so far at any patch level.

The situation I have now is that: we have some servers running the earlier patches ( Gold Patches, Hardware patch, June 2003 or Dec 2003 ), we are going to install 2 servers with 2GB HBA, however, we hope to keep the same patch level on the new servers as those on the old servers, instead of ungrading the patch to the latest one ( June, 2004 ), but I am not sure whether the final patch added the support to 2GB HBA, if so, we have to upgrade all servers...

Hi,

PHSS_26799 was released with December 2003 and I don't believe there is any later patch with June 2004 bundles. There are quite a few driver issues fixed with that patch. I believe PHSS_28509 was released as a seperate patch and may appear in September/December bundle if there won't be any superseded patch before.

I would try 'swlist -l patch |grep -i tachyon' and find out the patch levels. Also look at itrc patch site to look for superseded patches.

I personally would like to be at reasonably latest patch/driver levels.

While I can't give you any specifics on what the patch revision was at the time, I can tell you that we've had an A6795A running at 2GB on HP-UX 11i since June 2002. So as long as the drivers you currently have support the Tachyon XL2 HBA, you should be fine. Still, you should probably check to make sure there aren't any critical warnings on any of the newer patches.
