Hp-UX rp 3440 Not booting after network change-Urgent

Hi,
We are having Hp-UX rp 3440.
We changed the network setting from static into dyanmic in the file /etc/rc.config.d/netconf DHCP_client=1 , removed the static ip and restarted the machine.
After that machine not booting, keep on showing "RV200 P/N 113-88304-100 BIOS" message.
Can any one help on this issue?
Note: We are not able to connect Console IP also?
Since this is urgent any one help on this issue?
Thanks

Can you get to the serial console?
"The difference between me and you? I will read the man page." and "Respect the hat." and "You could just do a search on ITRC, you don't need to start a thread on a topic that's been answered 100 times already." Oh, and "What. no points???"

Shalom,

Get on the console and reverse the changes with set_parms

The change you said you made should not have disabled lan console access.

There may be something else wrong with the system. As noted above you may need to connect a serial console to gain access

Re: Hp-UX rp 3440 Not booting after network change-Urgent

It's going to be nearly impossible to troubleshoot the system without console access to see the system startup.

Do you know if it was able to obtain a dynamic ip? If so can you ping that address or try to ssh to it?

I'm guessing the "RV200 P/N..." message is from a monitor attached to graphics card, right? You wouldn't see any output until after CDE or Xserver starts up, which may not happen if the network or name resolution is a problem.

Get a null modem cable and a laptop w/ hyperterm to troubleshoot things.

Did you commentedout the IP line in /etc/hosts file?
If you don't have local/remote console access, from where did you see the error message after rebooting?
You may have to backout the plan and verify the network configuration.

BTW, what could be a good reason to use DHCP for a server?

Hope this helps!

Re: Hp-UX rp 3440 Not booting after network change-Urgent

And just to reinforce the question about using DHCP: your server will be almost useless every time it reboots using DHCP because no user will know how to connect to it unless you have a clever DHCP system administrator and a dynamic DNS server that is 100% reliable. And of course, your system will hang if the DHCP server doesn't work or is unreachable at bootup. Never use DHCP on a server.
