HP-UX total uptime

Is there a way to determine when an HPUX box was originally built. We have a couple dinasours and no one is really sure when they were rolled out.

Maybe a command or file that would have been there since the OS was installed???

Thanks in advance.

Re: HP-UX total uptime

Hi

you can look at the /var/adm/sw in the log files of the swinstall or swagent

on the first line you will see when the system was install

Re: HP-UX total uptime

Perhaps you still have the old /var/adm/sw/swagent.log that contains the log from the cold install.

Otherwise I would check the creation date of some devicefiles like /dev/netman or /dev/lan0 that are created at installation time. However these dates can give you a hint only. It doesn't prove that this is the installation date.

Hi,
Since there may have been (many) updates of your boxes, the best yould be to give us the model, uname -a may help, and Im sure there are on this forum a few people who could give you an approximate date of production of such box.
Just thoughts...

All the best
