HP-UX update --password needed

Hi Everybody

I have a C200 and B2000 with 10.20, but I will update them.
I found some software for that, but they are password protected. Can anybody help me to have something to update my system to 11i ?

Re: HP-UX update --password needed

For software upgrades on products you have licensed, you'll need to call the HP licensing center for codewords. They'll need the product number from one of your installation CD's to give you the correct code. Assuming you have a license for the OS, you can call your HP sales rep or order via the ITRC software update manager IF you have the contract linked to your user id.

Re: HP-UX update --password needed

Shalom Bakos,

Log on the system single user mode.

Interupt at the 10 second prompt

BO
Y # to the interact question

hpux -is

mount /var
mount /usr
vi /etc/passwd

Null out the root pasword.

That will allow you to log on.

To update the machine, all you need to do is boot off the 11i cd

Interupt at the 10 second prompt

SEA

bo P5

If P5 is the CD-ROM.

Usually the cd-rom is either the first or last random device on the SEA display.

Re: HP-UX update --password needed

Dear Bakos,

As the softwares are licenced, it is protected by password.

If you havt got the valid licence you can always log a call with HP and get the password.

With Regards,

Siva.
