Re: HP UX V 8.0
HP-UX version 8.0 has been OUT OF SUPPORT for a VERY LONG TIME (maybe 20 years??).
Only recently has HP started making some versions of HP-UX available, but those are only the most current SUPPORTED versions.

Re: HP UX V 8.0
HP-UX 8.0 was out of support by the time I first saw an HP-UX box (1995 - 9.02).
Whatever is running on that box, it should have been replaced several times over by now, in order to be on supported hardware and a supported OS.
I fear you are now tragically out of luck, and whatever issue you are facing that requires this, you will not be able to recover from

Considering that VMS V8.0 was not released
generally to customers, it seems a pretty
unlikely mistake to make. (For most people,
that is.)

Re: HP UX V 8.0
you might find NetBSD a well suited current OS for the kind of hardware anything that 8.x actually worked on.

What type of computer was this?
If not a computer per se, perhaps Agilent may know?

Re: HP UX V 8.0
If you're talking here about an old workstation that runs a manufacturing device on the shop floor, better call its vendor, assuming they're still there, to get an upgrade done.

Re: HP UX V 8.0
yeah, but do they have a modern (comparable) replacement)?
At this point, you're going to need new hardware AND software. You're not talking about support....you need to replace it with something that will do the same job.

Re: HP UX V 8.0
in any event, you might see if the OEM makes a replacement / upgrade controller. If you can't find a replacement, you could wind up replacing not on the controller, but potentially whatever it *controlled* as well.

Re: HP UX V 8.0
My 1st encounter was with 9.x
This version is quite old :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP-UX
and was probably on a cpu prior to PA (ie motorola)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_9000
Furthermore, would this be Y2K compliant ???
