In general, it is best to check supported platoforms in the "Installing and Updating Guide" on docs.hp.com. The one for 11.23 is under release 11i v2 at http://docs.hp.com/en/5990-8144/index.html and it shows under "supported servers and workstations" that rp5400 series and L-class are supported (rp5470 is the L3000).
Yes - BUT there are 2 11.23 versions. One for PA-RISC & one for Itanium-2 systems. That's certainly not confusing I'd say...yea & i got some bottom land for sale.

Yes, 11.23 is the same as 11i v2 (11i v2 is the only official customer naming, 11.23 is internal naming but appears in the what string). Note that there are 2 flavors of 11i v2, the initial release for IPF servers only, and since September 2004, the 11i v2 September 2004 release that supports both PA-RISC and IPF.
Strictly speaking there are two versions of 11.23. Namely 11i v2 (the fist release supporting only IPF) and the newer 11i v2 0904 (a.k.a. 11i v2PI). The latter supports both IPF and PA-RISC from one DVD. So one could say that that later version comes in two flavors.
