HP UX version differences

Hi Everyone,

Any idea, how many versions are there in HP UX 11.00 itself; like "B.11.00.U" and "B.11.00.E" etc., and what are the differences between them ?!!

Cheers !!!

Re: HP UX version differences

Hi:

There are four flavors of 11.x:

> Operating Environment (OE)
> Enterprise OE
> Mission Critical OE
> Technical Computing OE

A good overview can be found in the pdf document ("HP-UX 11i Operating Environments (HP-UX 11i)" at:

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/os/11i/index.html

Re: HP UX version differences

The 4 operating environments that James talks about are the 11i operating environments.

Here is HPs web page for HP-UX, which seems to be geared towards 11i and the new Itanium processors:

I do not know what the difference between 11.00.E and 11.00.U is. Here is HPs documentation area for 11.00, maybe you'll have better luck than me finding something.

Re: HP UX version differences

Hi again:

Ah, yes, Patrick is correct. I answered for 11.11 (a.k.a. "11i"). If you truly mean 11.0, then, I too, am not sure what the "U" and the "E" signify.

If you want to add to this, 11.20 is the version for the Itanium processors. You will see this documentation labeled "11i Version 1.5). Thus we have 11.0, 11.11 (or "11i") and now 11.20 (or "11i version 1.5").

...the times, they are a'changing...

Regards!

Re: HP UX version differences

The E and U in th euname string are the user license definition as far as I can recall.
It was there in the days when the user license was not printed in plain text fashion.
