HP-UX
To Whom It May Concern:
I am having a small problem with the HP 9000 apollo series 400 and HP-UX. We
have a Zygo Maxim 5800 connected to a HP 9000 running HP-UX. The zygo product
is a profiler for polymer samples. The zygo product was purchased in 1992.
The profiler produces large image files. I am trying to get these image files
from the HP to another computer on a LAN. I am attempting to connect a Win95
machine to the HP and transfer the files that way but I am yielding no
results! I am at a lost. So if anyone can offer some advice or point me in
the right direction, it would greatly be appreciated!
Thank -you
Lamont Frazier

Re: HP-UX
Can your PC ping the Unix box. If you can, use
the IP address of the HP to ftp from your PC to the
server. Note that the account you'll use to login
to the Unix box must be active and the login name
should not be in /etc/ftpuser so that you'd be allowed
ftp.
Good Luck!!

Re: HP-UX
First of all your win95 box must be running tcp/ip.
If this is the case go to a DOS prompt and type
ping unix_server_name
if this works then you can at least reach the unix server.
now try ftp unix_server_name if this works you are in if it doesnt you need to
setup the ftpd on your hp-ux box

Re: HP-UX
If TCP/IP is working then may I suggest a program that
makes FTP a snap? WS_FTP. you can download it from the net. It works with
windows. Sorry I don't have a URL for you.
