HP-UX11.0 install/recovery CD always run to Recovery option

I want to install the HP-UX 11.0 to my RP2470 machine. But after booting from the Install/Update/Recovery CD, it always run into Recovery options.

But it is not reproduced in another machine.
Any idea to resolved this situation?

(The OS is release on 2002-09)

Hi

When you boot from the cd -

boot
ipl interact
n
enter
press any key to continue you will get the menu

Use the arrow keys to select install HP-UX

This will take you to the user interface and media options menu

Do you get something different than the above ?

From the console.

Stick the cd in the drive

Boot machine

interupt at the 10 second prompt.

sea

One of those guys will be a cd-rom most likely the last one.

boot p#

replace the # with the number of the cdrom

This will most certainly get you a choice with a screen for an Ignite install

Hi,
Yes, I know the steps to have a CD to boot.
Same as you described:
sea
bo p1
--> boot from cd
wait for few mins and the selection menu show up, but I have no chance to make a selection then it automatically jump to ask me:
"Would you like to startup networking at this time?", which is the first question of Recovery task.

Hi

Not sure whether this answer will go to the funniest ones ,but I also faced the same problem once.
I was trying to install the OS from a Hyperterminal in a windows box and it was going staright for recovery.Terminal settings were the culprit and on changing to the proper on it started working, ours was set to vt100.
Check that end also.

Re: HP-UX11.0 install/recovery CD always run to Recovery option

Hi Siju,
Thanks, I try to change the hyper-term's terminal type to the one other than vt100, than the booting will ask to select a terminal type. Then I select vt100 and reset hyper-term's terminal type back to vt100. The menu can display correctly without automatically jump into Recovery selection.

Thanks

Hi

Are you able to install the OS now,I remember we faced some problem while selecting the fields and at that time we had to change the emulation once again.

Re: HP-UX11.0 install/recovery CD always run to Recovery option

Hi SIJU,

Yes, the installation is finished and the OS is ready.
I am not sure why in the beginning the hyper-term's terminal type is set to vt100 but got the situation I mentioned in the first. So I change the emulation type to others to let the booting process to ask which terminal type am I using (and of course I select vt100).

But I still not sure why if I insert the HP-UX 11i Install CD will not run into the problem.
